NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Bellevue homeowner says there is a constant threat on his house and safety living next to what could be considered a dangerous curve.
Kevin Baginski moved into his house at the corner of Pasquo Road and Union Bridge Road near Highway 100 five years ago.
In recent years, he has dealt with more drivers speeding on the curve and losing control, especially at night or when there is inclement weather. Their vehicles veer off the road and either hit a guardrail or land near or on his property.
“I’ve also had people come within six foot from my living room window coming around this corner too fast,” Baginski told NewsChannel 5. “I’m getting used to it and that’s the scary part. When I first moved it was once in awhile but now it’s happening so much.”
Baginski lost track of how many incidents there have been but estimates anywhere from 20 to 30.
With a nearby development bringing in more people, the issue could get worse.
He said the problem is not only drivers speeding but lack of signage. He plans to reach out to the city to see what could be added, if that means a traffic circle.
A Metro Public Works official told NewsChannel 5 that there is a project to install a light near the area.
“Anything just to help. It’s scary I’m more worried for the people more than anything else,” Baginski added.
Calming traffic is a priority for Metro Public Works amid the growth in the city. With more people moving in, the department has to address traffic in neighborhoods.
A spokesperson said neighbors can give their input on particular roads to hubNashville.
Not too far from Baginski’s house, a project began this week to construct a roundabout at Sawyer Brown Road and Todd Preis Drive. There are already three traffic circles along Harpeth Parkway to slow down drivers.
