NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — We all have to blow off some steam every once in a while and the healthcare workers of TriStar Summit Medical Center are no exception.
You could say if anyone needs a break, it’s them. On Friday, there was plenty of breaking at the expense of a brown Ford SUV kindly referred to as “COVID car.”
Your imagination doesn’t have to work too hard when you see the SUV loaded with COVID-19 stickers and a sledgehammer nearby.
With safety glasses and gloves at the ready, the SUV became a metal punching bag for all to let their frustrations out on. Over the course of several hours, doctors, nurses, even the CEO took turns letting COVID-19 know exactly how they felt about the virus.
“It felt so good. Lots of built up energy over the past month or two,” said Tabitha Stewart, Emergency Room Director for TriStar Summit Medical Center.
Stewart understands just how stressful days at the hospital can be. On the frontlines of the emergency room, she knows the main priority is always being on guard and taking all the necessary precautions. It’s overwhelming to say the least she says, but it’s moments like these where she’s grateful to have support from her team.
“We are here to serve. That’s what nursing is. We have it in our hearts to take care of people at their best times and sometimes worst times. We’re here to love on you whenever you need us. Sometimes that’s not easy for us, but because of the teamwork, we do an excellent job on that,” said Stewart.
The COVID car was made possible as part of National Hospitals week. While the COVID car is only here until the end of the Friday, staff at the hospital say they have even more in store for National EMS week which begins on Monday.
