DICKSON, Tenn. - A Sheriff's deputy was on his way home for the night, last week, when he saved a baby, who was trapped inside a burning truck.
He said he was in the right place at the right time.
He said he was just driving home from a middle school football game and homecoming bonfire when he came up on a mangled truck that had caught fire.
The child's father had been ejected from the vehicle, and the baby was badly injured.
Because of Humphreys County Sheriff Department School Resource Officer Mike Adcox's quick action, the baby is going to be fine.
Adcox said not to call him a hero, though.
He said he was doing what he hoped any parent would for his kids.
"I could see the baby's face down in the car seat and just had to cut the straps (to get him out.) He was wedged between the car seat and the back of the cab of the truck," Adcox said.
The eight-month-old's mother told NewsChannel 5 late Tuesday night she hoped her baby would be released from the hospital on Wednesday.
