MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles caused a major delay for commuters in Rutherford County.
The incident was reported around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, at mile marker 76 on Interstate 24 West in Murfreesboro.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the driver of a vehicle swerved to avoid hitting another car when it collided with an SUV.
From there, the car struck a large truck, causing it to flip over on the interstate. The other two vehicles came to rest on the shoulder.
It was not known what the truck was hauling.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said at least one person was injured.
The interstate was closed for several hours at Medical Center Parkway as a result of the crash. Traffic was briefly diverted onto the shoulder while troopers worked to clear one lane.
