Emergency crews in Dickson County said Tuesday the conditions of some side streets may have seemed to be clearing up from all the ice and snow, but the threat of black ice still remained through the overnight hours.
Rob Fisher, the Dickson County Emergency Manager said things started getting busy for him around 3 am, when he said a tractor trailer hit some ice and overturned on Interstate 40 near Dickson.
The wreck closed the interstate for a couple of hours, but the tractor trailer itself remained on the side of the road for several hours afterwards.
The Dickson Police Department posted pictures to its Facebook page that showed one of its units got rear ended when it pulled to the side of the road to help someone else involved in a wreck -- no one was hurt.
Fisher said people still needed to be careful driving on the roads because there's likely black ice in some spots that will surprise drivers.
"It will sneak up on you pretty fast," Fisher said. "For two or three miles, it'll be dry pavement and then you can hit a blind curve where there's a slick spot that you don't anticipate being there, and then it's already too late."
Emergency crews said that threat of black ice will increase tonight as the temperatures drop again.
