Chemical spill closes northbound lanes of I-65 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 have been shut down due to a chemical leak.

The road is expected to be cleared by 9 p.m. A tractor-trailer leaked sodium hydroxide onto the interstate at Exit 86 in Nashville. Crews responded at 5:30 Friday evening.

The northbound lanes of the interstate and well as the Fern Street overpass were closed.

The Nashville Fire Department Hazmat team, Metro Police Department and Tennessee Department of Transportation responded to the leak.
