NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Today is rescan day, but you may rescan and still be unable to view NewsChannel 5 programming. Here's a quick update on what's happening behind the scenes.

THINGS TO TRY: When you rescan, first try going up through all your channels with your remote. NewsChannel 5's new channel is Channel 36, but most TV's will move that signal to channel 5. If you don't see us on 5, try to go up through all your channels first. Also, if you're using an internal antenna, try to position the antenna as close to an outside wall or window as possible, that will provide a stronger signal.

ANTENNA UPGRADE: We've got a team working around the clock on an upgraded antenna signal that will send out our strongest antenna signal ever. (Update: This work is now complete) Currently, we're working with a side-mounted antenna on our tower, which is a bit lower than our previous antenna. As a result, our signal may not be as strong today as it was before our FCC mandated frequency change.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?: The best thing we can tell you is to try again and rescan at a later time.

WHAT DO I DO IF I STILL DON'T HAVE A SIGNAL? There are a few options -- all our NewsChannel 5 live newscasts are streamed free on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV -- just download the free NewsChannel 5 app. You can also watch our live newscasts on newschannel5.com or on your phone on the NewsChannel 5 app. CBS primetime shows are available for on-demand streaming at cbs.com

If you're an internet user, and have an internet-connected device on your TV (or a smart TV) You can also sign up for a free-trial from an internet-based TV provider. Both YouTube TV and Hulu TV provides a free trial, which includes NewsChannel 5, and has apps on all major platforms -- you would just need to remember to close your account before the free trial ends.
