Mail truck hydroplanes, catches fire on I-24 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A crash caused significant delays along Interstate 24, just north of Nashville, after a tractor trailer hauling mail hydroplaned and caught fire.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday in westbound lanes just north of the Old Hickory Boulevard exit. The truck reportedly hydroplaned, hit a side wall of the roadway and burst into flames.

The driver was able to make it out of the truck and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He’s expected to be OK.

The flames from the crash were intense and burned for nearly an hour.
