NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The man now known as the Waffle House Hero threw out the first pitch at Saturday night's Nashville Sounds game.
James Shaw Jr. waved to the crowd before taking the mound. He said his strategy was simple: throw hard and straight.
Since the Waffle House shooting, Shaw said he continues to spread a message of mental health awareness and for an end to gun violence.
“Just want Nashville to stick together and stop all the needless and senseless shootings that are going on in Nashville, and we just need to come together and be one,” Shaw said.
After the first pitch, the Sounds presented a $4,000 check to Shaw's gofundme account that he set up to help the victims of the shooting.
