NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Department of Health reported 17,330 additional COVID-19 cases and 63 new deaths in the past 48 hours on Saturday.
The Department released two days' worth of data due to the New Year's holiday. The January 1 update included 8,550 additional cases and 15 deaths. The January 2 update included 8,780 additional cases and 48 deaths.
This brings the state's total case count to 604,132. So far 6,970 Tennesseans have lost their lives to the virus.
The report also showed 3,114 patients currently hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Earlier today Metro Public Health officials reported an additional 619 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This brings Davidson County's total to 70,325.
One additional death was also reported, an 87-year-old male with a pending medical history.
The COVID-19 hotline received 131 calls on Friday, January 1.
