NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — After Krystal Daniels sent a letter detailing childhood trauma to NewsChannel 5, her mother is speaking out, claiming her daughter is untruthful.

Daniels is charged with aggravated child neglect in the death of her 5-year-old son Joe Clyde.

In her letter, she announced plans to divorce her husband Joseph, who is charged with homicide in connection to their son.

The letter also discusses Daniels' struggle with anxiety that stems from trauma at the hands of her mother's boyfriend when she was young. Krystal said her mother didn't believe her, and no criminal charges were filed.

However, her mother disagrees.

"Krystal will say or do anything to get out of trouble," her mother told NewsChannel5. "She was never raped. That is a bold faced lie."

Daniels' mother says if her daughter had ever told her such a thing she would have immediately rushed her to the hospital.

"She is trying to gain sympathy in the Joe Clyde criminal case," said her mother. "But she is a habitual liar."

Krystal's mother lives out of state and says she has no idea whether her daughter is involved in what happened to Joe Clyde.
