The father of 5-year-old Joe Clyde Daniels, Joseph Ray Daniels, was found competent to stand trial.

According to police officials, Joseph confessed to beating and killing his little boy. He was charged with homicide.

To this day, investigators said Joseph has not been able to tell them what happened to his son's remains.

Joseph was first taken to Centerstone in Nashville in June for his first mental health evaluation. He was then taken to Middle Tennessee Mental Institute for further evaluation.

According to District Attorney General Ray Crouch, the results of those evaluation found that Joseph is competent to stand trial.

While there, he wrote a letter to his parents claiming little Joe is still alive and his wife, Krystal Daniels, arranged for someone to take him.

He was returned to Riverbend Maximum Security Institution last week. He and Krystal, remain locked up on $1 million bond each. Both have have pleaded not guilty. They are scheduled to go to trial early next year.
