NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 13-year-old Haynes Middle School student was arrested for posting a threat on social media.

Metro Nashville Police officials say the young teen threatened to "shoot up" the school in an Instagram post.

Detectives say the Instagram account appeared to have been created for the sole purpose of posting the threat. They traced the account back to the student with the identification of the telephone number used to make the post, as well as the address of the student.

The 13-year-old admitted to posting the threat, which he said was intended as a joke. No weapons were found in the student’s bedroom. He was charged at juvenile court with making a false report of an emergency, which, under Tennessee law, is a felony.
