The family of an East Tennessee teen was honored when their family member, 15-year-old Zaevion Dobson, was awarded the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPY Awards.
Dobson was killed in December of 2015 when he was shot while protecting two of his friends from a drive-by shooting.
"His legacy will love on because he sacrificed his life for someone else, so that's an awesome thing," his mother Zenobia Dobson said.
Steph Curry presented the award to Zaevion's mother, and two brothers Wednesday evening.
At the time of the shooting, Dobson was a football player at Fulton High School in Knoxville.
The Arthur Ashe Courage Award is one of the most prestigious in sports.
