A Kentucky State Police trooper shot and killed a suspect after an overnight pursuit in Christian County.
The incident began around 12:30 a.m. Monday when troopers received a request for help from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
The original report involved a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Meacham Road and Greenville Road. The driver was reportedly slumped behind the wheel.
Authorities said the vehicle had been stolen out of Akron, Ohio.
They tried to remove the suspect from the vehicle but that person allegedly fled, briefly dragging a trooper until he could free himself.
A chase ensued for several miles down Greenville Road. At some point, the suspect’s vehicle became engulfed in flames.
After the pursuit ended, the suspect was fatally shot by a trooper. His or her identity was not released.
The trooper was not identified. No additional details were known.
