NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Former Tennessee governor and U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander was honored by the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Judicial Conference.

Alexander was awarded for his lifetime of public service. They presented him with a piece of the red carpet from his inauguration as governor 41 years ago.

"Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Judicial Conference are each honoring me, but what I'm going to do in return is, I'm going to honor three lawyers who I think are legal heroes in Tennessee."

The three he named, acted to get Alexander sworn in as governor three days early when his predecessor was caught selling pardons for money.
