NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An investigation is underway after a massive fire broke out inside a west Nashville home.

The incident was reported shortly before midnight Sunday at a residence on Twin Street.

Witness video from the scene showed large flames shooting up through the roof. The fire seems to have started in the front part of the home.

At one point, the blaze was quite large and engulfed much of the home from the roof to its sides.

It took some time to put the flames out, but once the fire was under control the damage done to the home was obvious.

The roof appeared to be partially collapsed with the front of the house seeing the most damage.

NewsChannel 5 spoke with Kim Ballew, the woman who called 911 when she saw the fire. Ballew said she had to quickly jump into action.

“We got over here and the house was completely in flames. There were no firetrucks or anything,” she said. “We got out to see if there was anybody in danger or anything we could do to help.”

So far, the blaze does not appear to have been intentionally set.

One firefighter was hurt and received stitches after receiving an injury battling the blaze.
