Large Multi-Use Developments Being Built In Green Hills

City officials have been working with local developers to improve walk-ability in Green Hills.

"The traffic, man. I didn't know if I was going to make it! You know this could have been my last time going to the barber shop!" Bond laughed.

Bond was walking past the new Vertis Green Hills. It's a mixed-use living space equipped with retail and restaurants that's under construction. The cost of rent will range from $1799 to $14,500. They sent us renderings of what the development will look like.

"We'll get some roadway infrastructure improvements, significant pedestrian infrastructure improvements, and one of the great things is you can get those at the expense of the developer," District 25 Council Member Russ Pulley said.

According to Pulley, the second large-scale development in that area has been located on Crestmoor Road. It will be a Hilton Hotel and Marriott Residency Inn.

The developer has planned on adding a sidewalk to that section of the street, which can be seen in these photos.

"We're a long way from getting there, but the fact that they're interested in partnering with us with that is very attractive," Pulley said. "And we'll just see where it goes."

While some people may be concerned by the effects of the first sky-scrapers in Green Hills, city officials said there will be more parking garages with both developments.

"It's a very busy area, so walk-ability is very very important! Get us some more sidewalks today!" Bond said.

The Vertis Green Hills has been set to open in March, and they have been accepting rent applications.
