Lawmakers Celebrate Ag Day

State leaders celebrated Ag Day on Capitol Hill by rolling up their sleeves to shuck some corn.

Governor Haslam recognized the contribution of farmers as part of the celebration.

Legislative Plaza turned into a place for families to check out animals, farming equipment and some fun competition between Speaker Beth Harwell and Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey.

He said the farm plays a big role in his family life.

"I am going home, I'll spend a lot more time with my grandsons and my granddaughters - born last Wednesday - and I'll tell you where we spend most of our time: on the farm,” said Haslam.

Some of the day's activities benefitted charities like Second Harvest, Society of St. Andrew and the Ag in the Classroom program.
