A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Lawrence County.
Lawrenceburg Police said officers responded to a shooting call at a residence on Smith Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The victim was found near the residence with a visible gunshot wound.
She was taken to Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, where she died a short time later.
Detectives said 18-year-old Kyle Daniel Welcher was later arrested for reckless homicide.
He was being held at the Lawrence County Jail without bond. Welcher was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on February 1.
Police did not immediately identify the victim. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unknown.
