FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Congressman Marsha Blackburn and businessman Bill Lee talked with supporters on the first day of early voting at an event in Franklin.
The event was held at the Williamson County Enrichment Center Wednesday morning.
Blackburn is in a race for Bob Corker's seat in the U.S. Senate against former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. Blackburn took a recent lead in polls, but many analysts still expect it to be close.
"Tennessee is not going to be the state to hand the U.S. Senate to the Democrats. Tennesseans know a vote for Phil Bredesen is a vote for Chuck Schumer," said Blackburn.
Bill Lee is running to be Tennessee's next Governor against former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
"This is part of what makes this country great is the fact that we have a government of the people," said Lee.
