NEW YORK (AP) -- The limousine company whose car CBS correspondent Bob Simon was killed in has blamed Simon for his own death because he wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Skyline Credit Ride said in papers filed in Manhattan state Supreme Court that Simon's "culpable conduct" caused his death.
The 73-year-old newsman was killed February 11 when the limo he was riding in crashed on Manhattan's West Side Highway.
His widow, Francoise Anne-Marie Simon, sued Skyline Credit Ride and the limo's driver in June for wrongful death.
The Daily News reported Skyline said in court papers filed this week that Simon "failed to use or misused available seat belts."
The newspaper said a lawyer for Simon's widow did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
