MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — Hundreds of people gathered a Sellers Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet to remember country icon Charlie Daniels in a Patriotic Community Service.

Darryl Worley, Trace Adkins, Tracey Lawrence and other artists performed in honor of Daniels. Most of them spoke about Daniels before playing, sharing stories of their days in the industry together.

Even though they shared different things about the musician, they all said he was not only a great artist but he was also a good person and friend.

Some of the fans in attendance said the traveled from Missouri, Kentucky, or Alabama to be there.

An audio message from President Donald Trump was played at the service, in which he gave his condolences to the Daniels family and said the country icon will be greatly missed.

Visitation for the community will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. The funeral service, which is also open to the public, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10 at World Outreach Church on State Hwy 99 in Murfreesboro.
