Police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting in the Napier-Sudekum neighborhood of Nashville.
The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. Monday on 1st Avenue South near Carroll Street.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 20-year-old Kuyvonta Cain, also known as Kuyvonta Nabaa, was walking with a friend when they were approached by two men.
At some point shots were fired, striking Cain. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
Anyone with information in the case should call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
Police said Cain was convicted last month on two counts of felony aggravated assault stemming from a case where he was identified as the gunman who fired several shots at a car back in 2016.
A 39-year-old woman was grazed in the head during the incident. Her husband, his cousin, and a six-year-old child were also in the car but were not hurt.
Cain was also one of the teens who escaped from the Woodland Hills Youth Development Center in 2014. He was on the run for a month before he was captured.
