An investigation has been ongoing after one person was killed and four others, including a child, were injured in a crash in Rutherford County.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed two vehicles were involved in the wreck on Highway 231 South near Armstrong Valley Road just after 4:45 a.m. Sunday in Christiana.
Reports stated a 2010 Nissan Versa, driven by 18-year-old Mateo Tadeo Perez, was traveling north in the southbound lanes when it hit a 2016 Nissan Versa head-on.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Angie M. Kirk, was killed in the crash. Reports confirmed she was wearing a seatbelt.
Perez was injured, as well as three passengers in his vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Juana Alonzo Perez, 24-year-old Alonzo Carmelo Gaspar, and a four-year-old girl.
Officials said the four-year-old was not in a child safety seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Criminal charges have been pending in the crash as the investigation remained ongoing.
