Police ID Man Killed In South Nashville Shooting

Authorities have identified the 58-year-old man who was killed in a late night shooting in South Nashville.  

The incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Murfreesboro Pike and Plus Park Boulevard.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the call initially came in as a stabbing, but they arrived to find Vicente Rodriguez with several gunshot wounds.

Police said the suspect got out of a gold car, either a Honda or a Nissan, with front-end damage and approached Rodriguez. 

At some point, a struggle broke out and Rodriguez was shot in the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators said the suspect was described as an African American male in his mid-30s. He was said to be 5'6" tall and was wearing a tan jacket. 

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME. A cash reward has been offered in the case.
