Police have identified a man killed in a single-vehicle crash that possibly involved alcohol.

Authorities said 36-year-old Pedro Cervantes Tierrafria was killed in the wreck just before 1 p.m. Sunday on Anderson Road near Wilford Pack Drive.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said Tierrafria was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck that ran off the road and hit a utility pole.

The driver, identified as 46-year-old Nicholas Perez Parra, and Tierrafria were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Tierrafria died at the hospital. Police said Parra was being treated for critical injuries.

Authorities confirmed evidence of alcohol use was found at the scene and added Parra is a twice convicted habitual motor vehicle offender. He was driving on a revoked license and had previously been convicted of a second offense DUI.

Officials said a blood sample from Parra was set to be analyzed by the crime laboratory for alcohol and drug content.
