A shooting in East Nashville overnight turned deadly.
Officials said the victim was shot in the 700 block of Douglas Avenue just after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators said the victim, identified as 42-year-old Jarmane Southern, was inside his home and had a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away.
Sunday morning, police said they conducted several interviews and had been working on this ongoing investigation.
Officials were working to determine if the shooting happened in self-defense.
They said they believe 41-year-old DeMarcus Wellington shot Southern, but Wellington has not been charged.
According to a preliminary investigation, authorities believe Southern and Wellington got into an argument when Southern allegedly pulled out a knife causing Wellington to fire.
