One person has died after a stabbing on Charles E. Davis Boulevard, and authorities confirmed a man has been charged in the crime.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of the street in the J.C. Napier public housing development.
The victim, identified as 60-year-old Jessie Clay, was stabbed in the upper neck. He passed away from his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities said 48-year-old Derrick Hampton was charged with criminal homicide in the fatal stabbing.
Reports stated Clay was stabbed during an argument with Hampton.
Hampton was later found by officers in his apartment nearby, and he admitted to stabbing Clay.
Inside Hampton's apartment, authorities said they found a knife. Officials also confirmed the two men were acquaintances.
Hampton was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
No further information was available as the investigation remained ongoing.
