One person was injured after shots were fired during an apparent road rage incident on Interstate 24.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday along eastbound lanes near Haywood lane.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said two people in a Honda were traveling on I-24 when one of them dropped their phone and swerved into another lane while trying to find it.

A person in the other lane reportedly got angry and an argument ensued between both vehicles.

Police said one of the passengers in the other car began firing at the Honda, striking one of them in the arm.

The Honda stopped, but the other vehicle continued to travel down I-24.

The injured passenger was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2016 white Nissan.

Investigators were only able to speak with the victims because no other vehicles stopped.

Anyone with information was urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
