Officials said they executed a search warrant at apartment 106 in relation to suspected drug activity. Detectives then also received multiple witness statements that helped identify the suspect.
The suspect's identity was not released because police said attempts to locate that person had been unsuccessful and were still underway. Reports stated an arrest warrant for first degree murder had been issued.
The location of the shooting was the same as multiple recent incidents.
The first took place on April 25 when one person was shot in the forearm. In that case, two gunmen fled from the scene.
Less than 48 hours later, a man was critically injured when he was shot five times.
No indication had been given that the shootings were related.
Officials said more than 200 arrests had been made in that area in the last several weeks, including arrests for traffic violations, drug possession, weapons possession, and attempted murder.
They added they will be increasing the number of officers in that area in both marked and unmarked patrol cars, as well as foot patrols, with an increased focus on drug investigations.
The investigation remained ongoing. Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-893-7867.
