A large fire at an apartment complex in Cookeville destroyed ten units, according to reports.

Authorities said the fire began around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Village Court located at 800 Park Drive.

Photos from the scene showed a large portion of the complex fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were on the scene several hours as they knocked down the fire and put out hot spots.

Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton said no injuries were reported.

Mayor Shelton added several firefighters were treated for heat-related issues.

The American Red Cross sent in a disaster team from Murfreesboro to help the families who were displaced. They ensured the families would have food and a place to stay.

On social media, Mayor Shelton said, “Please continue to keep the residents that have lost their homes and our fire and emergency personnel in your prayers! We have the BEST Fire, Police and Emergency workers!”

No further details had been released. The fire remained under investigation.
