A 17-year-old has been charged in the shooting death of an 18-year-old.

Authorities with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the fatal shooting happened in the parking lot of a former Kmart store in the 4000 block of Nolensville Pike around 8 p.m. Friday.

Officials confirmed they arrested 17-year-old Vana Mustafa in relation to the death of 18-year-old Aiad Malo.

Officers heard shots coming from the parking lot, and they said Malo was taken by friends minutes later to Southern Hills Medical Center where he passed away.

Witness information led police to Mustafa as the gunman.

Detectives said they believe Mustafa shot Malo after meeting him in the parking lot for a fight.

Mustafa was found and taken into custody at his home after admitting to shooting Malo. He was being held in juvenile detention.
