Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department have arrested a man after a first date went wrong in December.
According to reports, a couple hit several bars downtown on December 4, 2016 for a first date. When the man, later identified as Craig Dewayne Mangrum, became intoxicated, his date asked if she could drive instead of him.
Mangrum, a convicted felon, reportedly didn’t like that. The incident involved him allegedly forcing her into his vehicle, causing her to hit her head on the car, as he reportedly attempted to kidnap her. The victim stated she tried to contact police at the time, but Mangrum took her phone from her.
Authorities said Mangrum told the victim he was on probation. Reports stated he also threatened to kill her and said she'd never see her family again.
Mangrum drove her to his home in Lebanon where she was able to get away, go to a neighbor's home, and call for help.
Police said Mangrum was taken into custody on Tuesday. He has been charged with kidnapping, theft, and assault.
