Two people have been arrested after officials said they were caught shoplifting from a store in Mt. Juliet.
The incident happened just before 9 a.m. Friday at the Belk store in Providence Marketplace.
An undercover officer saw the two female suspects walking into the store with a large, empty handbag.
The store was alerted to the suspicious behavior, and authorities said surveillance cameras captured the two removing a plastic Belk bag from the large handbag.
The suspects then allegedly stuffed clothing, perfume, and jewelry into the bag before leaving the store without paying.
Officials stopped the two as they drove away from the store.
The suspects have been identified as 55-year-old Beverley Johnson and 28-year-old Laquinta Sanders.
They were arrested after it was discovered they had stolen approximately $456 of merchandise from Belk, as well as $172 of stolen clothing from JC Penny, which was found in their car. Officials confirmed all items had been returned to the stores.
Both Johnson and Sanders were arrested and charged with two counts of theft of merchandise - shoplifting.
They were booked into the Wilson County Jail.
