2 Injured In East Nashville Apartment Fire

Two people were injured in an apartment fire in East Nashville.

The fire happened in the 700 block of North 9th Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Reports stated two officers happened to be in that area and saw the smoke. They were able to run inside and help two people out. It was unknown exactly how many people were inside.

Two people were injured, and authorities said one of them was critical with burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

The fire allegedly began in the kitchen. It was contained to one unit at the apartment.

Official said they also checked out a firefighter who had his mask kicked off while helping a victim.

No further details were released as the investigation remained ongoing.
