Two juvenile offenders have been taken back into custody after escaping from the Putnam County Juvenile Detention facility.

Authorities said 16-year-old Robbie Syverson and 15-year-old Jonathan Smith overpowered a corrections deputy at 8:40 p.m. Friday.

The two then restrained the deputy with force and handcuffed him to a fixed object.

Reports stated the two juveniles robbed the deputy and took the keys to his personal vehicle.

They were able to flee from the scene in that vehicle while still wearing their county-issued orange clothing.

Officials said Saturday that the two had been found and the vehicle was located.

Authorities said additional felony charges were pending, including possible charges against adults who they believe helped the juveniles escape.

Both of the juveniles were considered violent and dangerous.

The investigation remained ongoing. Anyone with information has been asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 931-528-8484.
