Three people have been placed behind bars after allegedly brutally attacking an elderly man.
Authorities in Macon County said 20-year-old Travis Austin Ervin, 23-year-old Richard Dewayne Williams, and 19-year-old Christopher D. Mitchell planned the attack and lied about a disabled car.
They added Ervin went to the door to borrow water for his "overheated" car, and that's when the 75-year-old victim noticed Mitchell lurking in the bushes.
The victim then pulled a gun from the waistband of his pants and shot Mitchell, but police said both Ervin and Mitchell still broke into the home.
Authorities said Williams was a "family friend" of the victim. He allegedly waited in the car, but he had tipped off the other two about a large amount of money at the home.
