Three suspects have been indicted in connection with an attempted robbery in south Nashville that left one alleged accomplice dead and a market store clerk critically wounded.
Officials with Metro polices said 21-year-old Dominique Cordell Wallace, 25-year-old Robert Dewayne Brooks and 25-year-old and Michael D. Bright are facing multiple federal criminal charges in connection with the case.
The incident happened at Express Market, located on Antioch Pike, on the evening of June 3.
The trio’s alleged accomplice, identified as 20-year-old Damontay L. Thomas, was fatally shot during the ordeal.
According to police, the suspects entered the store and tried to get behind the plexiglass encased counter. At some point, shots was fired as Thomas and another suspect tried to through to the other side.
Thomas was struck and collapsed just outside of the building, where he later died.
Police said one of the gunmen also pushed the store’s clerk to the ground and shot him in the head without provocation.
All three suspects have been indicted on multiple counts of conspiring to violate the robbery statute, firing guns during a crime of violence, murdering Thomas, and unlawful possession of firearms or ammunition as previously convicted felons.
Wallace was convicted of second-degree murder in May and received a 10-year sentence. Brooks was convicted of two counts of robbery in 2010 and received two six-year sentences.
Bright, believed to have been the alleged getaway driver, was convicted of aggravated burglary in 2013 where he received a three-year sentence. He has also been charged in a robbery of a Jack in the Box back in June.
If convicted on the new indictment, they face up to life in a federal penitentiary with no chance of parole.
