Four teens have been arrested after a fight in a parking lot across from a high school. The suspects also fled from police in a stolen SUV.
The physical altercation with a student over an ongoing issue happened Thursday across from Overton High School, and the teens then fled in a stolen Toyota Highlander.
Around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, the vehicle was spotted by a detective heading east on Nolensville Pike. The officer waited for backup then stopped the SUV in the 300 block of Harding Place.
The driver of the SUV was identified as 19-year-old Ronderious Sanders. Reports stated he drove off from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed and nearly hit an officer’s car.
Sanders then hit a vehicle at Hamilton Church Road and Murfreesboro Pike. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.
That’s when Sanders and three juvenile passengers - identified only as two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old - fled on foot.
Police confirmed all four were captured and taken into custody.
Reports confirmed that out of the four teens, only one of the 17-year-olds was a student at Overton High School.
Authorities discovered one of the teens was armed with a handgun.
A pistol was also found nearby, and two shotguns were located in the stolen SUV. Both shotguns had also been reported as stolen.
Sanders has been charged with two counts of theft, evading arrest, assault of an officer, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident, and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to officials, the three other teens were being charged in Juvenile Court.
The investigation remained ongoing, which included looking into the teens' possible involvement in other crimes.
