An investigation got underway overnight after a man was shot in Brentwood.
The incident happened shortly before midnight Monday near Old Smyrna Road.
Officials with Brentwood Police said 42-year-old Thomas Hennesy was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police said they do not believe the shooting was random.
