Chili fans came together in East Nashville to support a good cause.
The 5th annual Nashville Chili Festival featured plenty of chili and live music.
It was the first time the event was held at The Basement East.
There were 12 kinds of chili competing for various prizes.
The event benefited Community Shares Tennessee, which is a statewide coalition of non-profit organizations that address a variety of issues.
“You don't have a lot of chili festivals,” said event organizer Jessica Dauphin. “We wanted to find our niche. Chili is as varied as Community Shares itself.”
In 2016, the event raised $10,000. Organizers were hoping to see similar numbers this year.
