Several major streets were shut down in downtown Nashville Saturday morning for the annual Christmas parade.
Portions of Broadway and many other roads started to shut down around 6:30 a.m. as parade officials prepared for the kick off at 10 a.m.
Thousands had been expected to come out to the 62nd Annual Piedmont Natural Gas Nashville Christmas Parade.

Previously the parade has been held on a Friday, but this year parade officials moved it to Saturday to alleviate traffic and parking concerns.
Having the parade on Saturday also made it easier for families to attend.
"Oh yeah, easy to park at the convention center, and then it just feels like old fashion, like really cool being in here," said Rob Vaughn, a parade spectator.
Streets reopened after the parade around 11:30 a.m.
The parade also had a new route this year. It started at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Broadway, headed east down Broadway to 2nd Avenue North, crossed over the Cumberland River, and ended at the base of the Woodland Street Bridge.
This year's Grand Marshal was actress and country music singer Jana Kramer.
