Phone service for emergency calls has been restored in Cumberland County after lines went down Tuesday morning.
Officials with Crossville Police said as of 8 a.m., the 911 phone system was non-functional. Service was restored about two hours later.
At one point, residents were given alternate numbers to call in the event of an emergency.
Authorities said a mechanical issue was responsible for the outage and has since been fixed.
No additional details were available.
