Ala. Murder Suspect Arrested After Tenn. Chase

A murder suspect who was on the run in a vehicle pursuit with Alabama authorities was arrested in Lawrence County.

Officials said help was requested from Lawrence County crews Friday around 6:15 p.m.

Officers in Alabama were trying to stop 28-year-old Benjamin Owen Young. The chase began around Patton Island Bridge in the Muscle Shoals area and stretched to Tennessee along Chisolm Road/Highway 13.

The suspect allegedly entered Lawrence County after turning onto Highway 227, also known as Iron City Road.

Authorities said the chase ended when Young crashed into a patrol car for the City of Loretto. His vehicle then overturned.

Young was taken to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was being held without bond.

He was wanted on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and evading arrest.

Officials confirmed he was also charged with theft of property when it was learned the vehicle he was driving was stolen out of Florence, Alabama.

He was awaiting extradition to Lauderdale County, Alabama. Police said the murder investigation was ongoing through the Tuscumbia, Alabama Police Department.
