A man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old at a Murfreesboro apartment complex.
The shooting happened before 2 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Greenland Drive.
The victim, 23-year-old Jessie Buford, died on the way to the hospital.
Officials said they executed a search warrant at apartment 106 in relation to suspected drug activity. Detectives then also received multiple witness statements that helped identify the suspect.
Saturday evening, police confirmed they had arrested Lammoris Montrel Jones. He was charged with first degree homicide.
Officials said more than 200 arrests had been made in that area in the last several weeks, including arrests for traffic violations, drug possession, weapons possession, and attempted murder.
They added they will be increasing the number of officers in that area in both marked and unmarked patrol cars, as well as foot patrols, with an increased focus on drug investigations.
