Police have been investigating after someone shot at a vehicle with a Belmont University staff member and students inside.
The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, as the vehicle was turning onto 15th Avenue South from Wedgwood Avenue.
Authorities said the Belmont staff member and three students were on their way back to the university from a golf tournament. They were traveling in a 2017 silver Ford Expedition with a Kentucky license plate that was unmarked and rented.
According to those inside the vehicle, a white Dodge Charger came up on them from behind at a high rate of speed.
The staff member and students said they heard a bang, and the back window of the Expedition shattered.
The victims said they saw a passenger in the Charger leaning out of the window with a pistol. The gunman was wearing a white T-shirt and had shoulder-length dreadlocks.
No injuries were reported from the incident. The investigation remained ongoing, and officials said the motive had not been determined.
