Black Friday Shoppers Take On Middle Tennessee Stores

For those who didn't get out shopping early on Thanksgiving, many of them hit the stores on Black Friday.

Shoppers who wanted to get a jump on holiday shopping didn't have to wait until Black Friday though. A lot of stores did open on Thanksgiving night.

However, the doors opened early Friday morning at Cool Springs Galleria in Franklin.

Cool Springs and most other area malls decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving after opening at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving in 2015.

It has become known as the busiest sales weekend of the year for most retailers.

An estimated 137 million Americans were expected to shop on Black Friday through the weekend.

Sales have been expected to increase this holiday season by 3.6 percent. That number was set to double for online sales.

The Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales take place ahead of Small Business Saturday, a day that has encouraged people to patronize local businesses, and Cyber Monday, when retailers offer discounts online.
