The District Attorney's office has started investigating why families have been turned away from a Cheatham County cemetery.
Thursday morning, the Cheatham County District Attorney paid a visit to Bell Town Cemetery. The D.A would not comment because he said the office does not comment on active investigations.
When NewsChannel 5 pulled up the satellite image of the cemetery, we noticed what looked like a dump.
On the way to the cemetery, there was a sign for MW Construction Dumpsters, and the number on the sign was the same number NewsChannel 5's Kimberly Davis used to contact the property owner Joseph Townsend Wednesday.
However, MW Construction Dumpsters does not have a solid waste permit.
Now Townsend has been under investigation by the Department of Environment and Conservation for the dump.
Though the Joyce family was unaware of the permit situation, Lawrence Joyce has just been hoping that they're father's grave site will be maintained better.

"There's horse manure that's been all over the graves and stuff, so it's in really bad shape. Hopefully, if it's in God's will, we will get it back to where it should be," said Joyce.
The Cheatham grand jury has been scheduled to meet this Tuesday.
