Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed two convicted felons have been arrested and charged after a pizza delivery driver’s vehicle was carjacked and set on fire.
Authorities said they took 34-year-old Earnest Fred “Fast Freddy” Brown and 35-year-old Billy Cox into custody.
The carjacking happened Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Lillian Street.
According to reports, the Papa John’s driver got out of his vehicle around 8:30 p.m. to deliver pizza. The two suspects then approached him and demanded his car.
Police said one of the suspects said he was armed and would shoot the driver.
That’s when the delivery driver fled on foot and contacted officials.
Authorities confirmed Brown and Cox took the vehicle. They were spotted minutes later walking on Shelby Avenue at South 15th Street.
Detectives said they smelled smoke and saw the vehicle on fire at South 15th Street and Boscobel Street.
The two men were then taken into custody nearby.
Both have been charged with carjacking and setting fire to personal property.
Cox was also charged with a probation violation. He had previous convictions for drug possession and DUI. Authorities said Cox was being held in lieu of a $121,000 bond.
Brown had previous convictions for aggravated assault, auto burglary, burglary, and felony theft. He was being held on a $110,000 bond.
